Trust me, it's worth being in Platinum club that includes a whole lot of priviledges especially when you walk in to a shop where they'll treat you differently.

Liew, do take note that most of the banks charges annual fees from 300-500 per year for Platinum card.
My Citibank Visa Platinum and SouthernBank Master Platinum is free for life.
However, I need to pay RM750 annually for both RHB Visa Platinum and Master Platinum.

Awaiting you to be in Platinum club ;)

P/S: There is higher grade than Platinum card now. Such as Visa Infinite, Citibank Ultima.... Maybe too many people have Platinum nowadays?

Ambank Platinum Mastercard is only RM90,000. Seems more affordable. But not sure about the benefit. If the benefit is good, I may plan to get one. :)

Your USD95 per day income is after or before tax? Does a fulltime blogger's income subject to malaysian income tax?

Bear no like to go on credit. Debit card still best.
  • Mr.Bear · 3 years ago
btw, an accountant friend recommended that for any card, comfort zone is u earn 2x the minimum limit. ppl can go pokai with credit card if not careful.
  • Raymond.CC · 3 years ago
True Mr Bear, a person who has credit card must have discipline in spending.
Spend must pay... don't carry forward or else one day you'll end up with lots of debt.

Credit card definately has more flexibility compared to debit card which has lots of limitations.

Even if I am qualified to apply for a platinum card, which I think I am, I rather have a normal card only.

Why would I need to pay in credit when I could pay cash? Even then, having a platinum card would probably entice me to spend more than I normally would. No good for me :)
  • Mr. Bear · 3 years ago
Bear dun like the risk to end up poor. Bear work hard to earn bear's keep as much as bear can.
  • pinolobu · 3 years ago
Gaman, exactly. I think credit cards are more often than not just a status symbol. You'd have a certain swagger if you can wave a platinum (or higher ranked) card about. It's like advertising your wealth to people around you. Even classic card spending limit can go up to five figures - good enough for most purposes.

If you read the newspapers, every day you can see people with credit card repayment problems issued with bankruptcy notices.

Just like cars - you can get to point A or B just as well with a Ferrari F40 as with a Kancil...

As long as the credit limit is comfortable enough, any card will do.
But I would like to have a Platinum Card while I make MYR200k per annum. Haha......:>
  • colbert · 3 years ago
Liewcf. U sure u cant afford Platinum now. Dun bluff lar
  • John Wong · 3 years ago
Get a Platinum and people will treat u better? Means we need to "blink" the Platinum before the purchase/order? Peoples that're paying cash are not deserve for a better "treat"?

Better watch out for the "cold blood butcher" out there.

However, Platinum is great for a motivation "target"!

The big P on my SBB Plat card came off and remained stuck onto my wallet. Everytime I swipe it, I always have a good laugh first. Plat card without the Plat..
  • God · 2 years ago
Hahaha, u all are stupid. There is a easy way to get platinum card without earning 10K per month.
  • LcF · 2 years ago
@God: how do we get platinum card without earning 10K per month?
  • Isaac · 1 year ago
You can get a platinum card if you're
    - HSBC Premier
    - CitiBank CitiGold
    - Standard Chartered Priority Banking
    customer.

HSBC platinum MasterCard is only for their Premier customers and is named Premier Credit Card.

I believe UOB Bank and OCBC Bank have this sort of VIP service too.

By the way, some local banks also have special account for VIP, such as Hong Leong Bank Priority Banking.

Ok, how can you be the mentioned bank VIP customer ? Maintain an average monthly Total Relationship Balance of RM200,000 or more and you'll qualify. HSBC will charge you RM150 should you funds fall below RM200k every month.

I'm currently looking for a good free for life credit card.
Not the one with condition such as spend minimum xxx amount every month or such... and not those who waive for the 1st year or 2nd year....

Anyone have any idea of such cards?
I had the SBB free for life card but ever since it has been convered o CIMB, I have been having trouble accessing the inetrnet banking online, so decided to cancel the card. To muc hasle...someone you have to maintain a seperate online virtual card for online transaction..such a pain.
